THE LEGACY PROJECT

THIS IS ABOUT ART, IT’S ABOUT PEOPLE, IT’S ABOUT LIFE, LOVE AND COMMUNITY.  IT’S ABOUT WHO WE ARE, WHAT WE DO AND WHAT WE BRING.  NO MATTER WHAT WE DO OR HOW WE DO IT WE LEAVE SOMETHING OF OURSELVES BEHIND, THAT’S OUR LEGACY.

Dr. Ernie Bodai with Kaiser Permanente is the man behind the Breast Cancer Stamp and our October honoree. The stamp is sold through the United States Post Office and a portion of the sales raises money for breast cancer research. Currently the stamps have raised over 960 million dollars. You can read more about Dr. Ernie Bodai on the blog and read his bio on his Honoree page.

A legacy is often thought of as something we leave behind.  But consider that we are also living it right now, this moment.  We are all walking along with our legacy in our outstretched hands as we greet the world, share beliefs we hold, lessons we’ve learned and how we interact with others.  Some do it with community outreach, some do it in the world of politics or sports, some with students we teach, some as artistic innovators, others by simply giving the perfect advice in the perfect moment to a friend in need.

Charr Crail’s legacy is one of photography, art and journalism.  In this site all three come together into one ongoing series of beautiful images including her latest series The Legacy Project, Sacramento.  As a photojournalist Charr has photographed some of the most influential and iconic people in the world today.   Get in touch with Charr and she’ll photograph you to create an extraordinary Legacy Portrait that will be enjoyed for generations.

Charr is also photographic artist with a passion for self-expression and a visual storyteller of people.  She finds them all– each and every single one––  beautiful.  It’s the beauty she seeks to capture with her camera and later turns these pictures into an illustrated art form.  Using the photo as a canvas Charr will enhance, express, reveal, illuminate, transform and show her subjects as their best, most beautiful selves.

The process begins simply with a photograph.  From there the adventure continues with a dance of her own personal techniques developed over years of artistic exploration of form, design, pattern, texture and color and remains ever transfixed by the endless possibilities of digital painting.

Shirely Dubnick “riding a Harley” during a Second Saturday art opening.

The one and only Shirley Dubnick just beamed the night I shot this photo of her during a Second Saturday reception at her gallery Solomon Dubnick.  She was absolutely thrilled to get on a Harley!

It was a great honor to be shown and selling in her gallery.  Shirley was a great artist representative too and always had some of the very best artists showing in her gallery.  Thanks to Shirley one of my own pieces is in the DiRosa Museum Permanent Collection in Napa Valley. Visiting the gallery was always fun and Shirley was a great conversationalist, super lively and passionate about art and artists.  More than a few times I stopped by just to say hello and check out what was going on and have a chat.  It was a joy to be a part of things there and the space she created.
