The Legacy Project

If something comes to life in others because of you, then you have made an approach to immortality.  Norman Cousins

The key to immortality is first living a life worth remembering.  Bruce Lee

I’ve put in so many enigmas and puzzles that it will keep the professors busy for centuries arguing over what I meant, and that’s the only way of insuring one’s immortality.  James Joyce

The Legacy Project, Sacramento chronicles great people of our city who have done and contributed great things to our community and often the world at large. Sacramento, having long lived in the towering shadow of San Francisco, is coming of age.  Our city has grown to have an ever growing presence in part because of the vision and leadership carried forth by the people living, working and creating in our very communities.  It’s an exciting time to see where we are going and to take note of how we came to be what we are today.  A diverse mix of people hailing from different parts of the world have poured their lives into the great city we have before us.

I share the pride of Sacramento and firmly believe that people’s contributions should be recognized and passed along to future generations who would seek to follow in their footsteps.

The Legacy Project is in it’s early stages and a few who have made such an indelible mark upon this city have also been honored.  Honorees currently include Governor Jerry Brown, Jeff Knorr– Poet Laureate, Russ Solomon– Tower Records founder, Gregory Kondos—world reknown painter.  The list is longer and still growing.   As a photographic artist I’ve been able to produce some stunning pieces of artwork that truly capture the person – beyond the initial photo.

As a photographic artist I seek to capture the essence of the human spirit first, through portrait photography and then through an artistic interpretation that would possibly intertwine achievements with the overall imagery.  This art will be posted for all to see and a new Legacy Project honoree will be featured each month.  The Legacy Project is also launching an annual scholarship for college students in 2014.

Stay tunes, please subscribe and/or get on the email list.  The site is in it’s humble beginnings and there’s plenty planned.

Best, Charr
